Are you one of the 40 million? Would you like a drug free way to reduce anxiety in yourself? Why not try EFT?!

EFT chart- Celine Elise Alvarez- Inner Growth TherapyEFT (aka Emotional Freedom Technique) is an excellent tool to use to reduce anxiety or overwhelm of any type. It uses 15 acupressure/ acupuncture points by tapping, rubbing or holding them you can change thought patterns, emotions, and energy flow in your body by practicing it. Here are 5 ways it can help to manage anxiety and stress better:

1. It helps you to pause and acknowledge that you are having stress or anxiety.

The tricky thing about anxiety until it gets really bad sometimes we can normalize it and ignore it.  Then it does not bother us until it it becomes obvious to us. Here is a list of anxiety symptoms:

  • Numbness and tingling
  • Dizziness
  • Chest pain
  • Headaches
  • Neck tension
  • Stomach upset, nervous stomach
  • Pulsing in the ear
  • Burning skin
  • Fear of impending doom
  • Nausea
  • Shortness of breath
  • Electric shock feeling
  • Shooting pains in the face
  • Heart palpitations
  • Weakness in legs
  • Feeling like you are going crazy
  • Inability to rest
  • Sleep problems

“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.” – Steve Maraboli

2) It helps you to become aware of your breath and take deep cleansing breaths

When a person has anxiety the first thing that tends to begin the cycle is not taking deep breaths. When you begin EFT you take three cleansing breaths with your hands over your heart. And then breathe after you tap each point.

3)EFT uses affirmations to change your though patterns

The use of affirmations is very effective to help you change thought patterns and relieve anxiety. It is important when using affirmations to repeat them multiple times to help your unconscious mind to accept them more. When you are using affirmations you are exchanging negative thought patterns with positive ones. This is why EFT is effective, it uses affirmations and reminder words while tapping on points to shift a person out of overwhelm into peace and ease.

“Worry pretends to be necessary, but serves no useful purpose.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

4) It interrupts the negative feedback loop of your mind

When some is struggling with repetitive thoughts which is common when someone is having anxiety. EFT allows you to focus on something positive that shifts your thought patterns and removes energy blockages.

“Anxiety can feel as huge as the big, blue sea, but remember that the sea is made up of smaller waves.”~ Kelli Jo Holly

5) EFT reduces tension in the body

Since EFT uses, breath, affirmations and acupressure points it is very effective at helping reduce tension in the body. When someone has anxiety or stress they are tensing their body up by taking shallow breaths. When you do EFT you are eliciting the relaxation response and expanding the breath.
